FOR PATIENTS WHO HAVE INSURANCE
An ESTIMATE will be given of the benefits that the Insurance company is expected to pay. The balance (deductible as well as the percentage not covered) is expected at the time services are rendered.
IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU REALIZE...
Your dental benefit contract is between you, your employer and the insurance company. We are not a party to that contract. This office submits your insurance claim as a courtesy to you. You (not the insurance company) are responsible to us for all our fees for services rendered to you.
- Not all dental procedures are a covered benefit in all contracts.
- Our fees, generally, but not necessarily, fall within the "reasonable & customary" fee structure, determined by your carrier. Insurance companies update their R&C fee schedule at 6-12 month intervals, based on the fees submitted for the previous months. Therefore, the fee schedule they consider "reasonable & customary", is actually 18-24 months old. They then pay only those fees which are in the lower 40-80% of all fees submitted by dentists in the New England area. What determines how often they update and what percentile they pay, is how much premium your employer is willing to pay.
